Program Description

Event Details

A corset illustrates the lives of many Victorian-era women: constrained and forced into an unnatural shape. But not all women lived this way. To celebrate Women’s History Month, historian Joyce Haworth will introduce you to three remarkable women with an Illinois connection: Civil War nurse Mary Ann Bickerdyke, reformer Ida Wells, and unionist and hell-raiser “Mother” Jones.
